Follow the directions below in order to make your journey to De Buitenjan, our accomodation during the Council Meeting, as smooth as possible. Have a safe and enjoyable trip!
Eindhoven Airport is served by several carriers including KLM, Transavia and Ryanair, and has direct flights to and from a number of cities around Europe. From Eindhoven Airport, it takes a 20 minute bus ride (line 401) to the Central Station. From there, follow the directions as explained in the section 'By bus to De Buitenjan'.
Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport is under two hours by car, and less than an hour and a half by train. The train departs right underneath the main hall of the airport. See 'By train' for additional information.
Düsseldorf and Brussels are both about an hour and a half away by car. Train connections to these airports are also possible, but the journey takes longer (about two and a half hours) and requires two (Düsseldorf) or three (Brussels) changes. See 'By train' for additional information.
Weeze Airport, just across the German border, is another popular choice as it has additional connections in the Ryanair network. From this airport, you can easily take a shuttle service to Nijmegen Central Station (about 45 minutes, price €15, requires reservation; visit the airport website for more information) and from there take the train to Eindhoven (58 minutes, change in 's Hertogenbosch). See 'By train' for additional information.
Trains in the Netherlands do not require booking. You can simply purchase a ticket before you get on the train at the station of departure. You can buy it either at a machine or a service counter (note: € 0,50 service cost will be included in the ticket price if you buy it at a service counter), with Eindhoven Central Station as your destination. Buying tickets on board is not a good idea; you will be charged an additional € 35,- fine. Once at Eindhoven Central Station, follow the directions as explained in the section 'By bus to De Buitenjan'.
By train from Schiphol Airport to Eindhoven Central Station
The train station Amsterdam Schiphol is right beneath Schiphol Plaza, the main departure hall of Schiphol Airport. Tickets can be bought at the yellow ticket machines at the train station (with cash or Maestro card) or at the service counter (with cash or credit card). Check the blue screens for the first train heading for Eindhoven.
On weekdays during peak hours the train leaves every half hour and goes directly to Eindhoven. In the weekend you have to switch trains at Utrecht Centraal.
Be aware of the fact that during the weekends of 14-15 and 21-22 April there are construction works announced between Schiphol and Utrecht; your trip might take more than one and a half hour. Rail service personnel will be present to advise you about how to get to Eindhoven. A one-way ticket costs € 17,70.
For all detailed train time schedules and ticket prices, follow the link to the national train company 'Nederlandse Spoorwegen' (NS) in the menu on the right.
Once you have arrived at the Eindhoven railway station, take bus number 150 with final destination 'Reusel'. This bus leaves every 30 minutes and will take you to our accomodation, De Buitenjan, in approximately 25-30 minutes. Tickets can be purchased with cash (about €3-4) in the bus. If you have time, buy a "strippenkaart", which offers multiple trips at a cheaper price, at the bus company's office at the Central Station (next to the Albert Heijn super market).
Once on the bus, get off at the stop Steensel, Turfweg, cross the road and follow the street called Turfweg. The entrance is after 100 metres on your left.
When you're on the A2 motorway, take exit 32 "Veldhoven Zuid". Turn left at the traffic lights, keep following the road. When you pass conference center "De Koningshof", keep driving for about 1 kilometer, then take the Turfweg on your left. The entrance of De Buitenjan is after 100 metres on your left. The address is:
